Universal Static Balance Fixture (USBF)

The Virtual Master Blade (VMB), Avion’s tail rotor balancing kit, has been approved by AMCOM for use at both field and depot levels. The VMB is capable of balancing the Apache tail rotor blade, the Black Hawk tail rotor paddle and the UH-60 main rotor tip cap. Numerous blade types have been added to include Tail Rotor blades for the U.S. Navy, Commercial customers, and European manufactured Tail Rotor blades. Similar to the main rotor fixture the VMB can be modified to accommodate new blade and tip cap types.

The VMB uses Avion’s patented three-point, weight-and-balance technology. It has been proven by over ten years experience at locations throughout the world. The system is compact and lightweight. As with our main rotor blade fixture, the USBF, the VMB uses a Windows platform.

Static Balancing just makes sense. The VMB provides the tool your maintenance personnel need to return the tail rotor blade to the manufacturer’s static balance specification. It provides the operator with a good, safe starting point for dynamic rotor track and balance (RTB).When mixing old and new tail rotor blades, the VMB will minimize the vibration experienced on the first test flight and reduce the number of test flights required.
